Regardless of whether Juventus qualify for the 2026-27 Champions League, they will undertake a significant overhaul of the squad this summer.
A victory over Torino in Sunday night’s Derby della Mole may not be enough to secure a place in UEFA’s top-tier competition, which is a sad indictment of the club’s uninspiring 2025-26 campaign.
While Inter Milan have been a cut above the rest in Serie A this season, all the other big clubs have been blighted by inconsistency.
If Juventus miss out on Champions
League qualification, they would be forced to reflect on what would undoubtedly be a missed opportunity.
Several squad members have failed to live up to expectations and will be heading out of the club this summer. Read on as we take a closer look at who is on the chopping block.
Juventus set for a defensive shake-up
Goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio performed reasonably well last season, but his form and confidence have deserted him during the current campaign.
Several Premier League clubs are reportedly monitoring his situation, and a summer move seems likely for the former Monza shot-stopper.
Federico Gatti also looks set to leave the club, with manager Luciano Spalletti favouring Pierre Kalulu, Gleison Bremer and Lloyd Kelly in defence.
Juan Cabal is expected to follow Gatti out of the exit door this summer having struggled with injuries over the past couple of seasons.
Daniele Rugani’s future will also need to be resolved. He has spent the last few months on loan at Fiorentina, but they are not expected to make the move permanent.
Koopmeiners unlikely to secure dream move
Juventus thought they had pulled off a coup when they signed Teun Koopmeiners from Atalanta in the summer of 2024, but he has failed to justify his €60 million transfer fee.
The 28-year-old was previously linked with Liverpool and would reportedly jump at the chance to sign for them. However, the Reds are unlikely to come calling.
Given his underwhelming performances over the past couple of years, links to other Premier League clubs are probably wide of the mark.
Roma has been touted as a potential destination and Koopmeiners may be tempted by the prospect of joining them if they qualify for the Champions League.
Turkish giants Fenerbahce and Galatasaray are other possible options for a player who may be more suited to playing at a slightly lower level.
Belgian striker likely to make a swift exit from the Allianz Stadium
Loïs Openda’s high-profile late-summer move to Juventus has not delivered the desired results and his stay with the club will likely end this summer.
The Belgian striker signed with Juventus on an initial loan from RB Leipzig last summer, with an obligation to buy that triggered earlier this year for a package worth around €40 million.
However, a tally of one goal in 24 league appearances paints a sorry picture for a player who was previously viewed as one of the hottest properties in Europe.
The 26-year-old has been strongly linked with Leeds United, while Premier League new-boys Coventry City are also monitoring his situation.
However, reuniting with former Leipzig manager Marco Rose could be the most likely outcome. Rose is set to replace Andoni Iraola at Bournemouth this summer.
Turkish giants eyeing big-money move for David
Canadian striker Jonthan David was tipped to be a difference-maker for Juventus when he joined the club on a free transfer last summer.
The former Lille star was a prolific scorer in France, but has weighed in with just six goals in 34 appearances in Serie A this term.
David was left on the bench last weekend as Juventus suffered a shock 2-0 home defeat against Fiorentina. He played for just seven minutes in the previous game against Lecce.
His €6 million net salary is a burden that Juventus cannot afford to carry. It is also a sizeable obstacle to a potential summer move elsewhere.
The 26-year-old has been linked with Fenerbahce and Galatasaray, and it would be no surprise if they both enquired about David when the transfer window opens.
Vlahovic could stay with Juventus
Although Dusan Vlahovic’s contract expires at the end of June, he could remain with the club.
He was touted as a potential replacement for Robert Lewandowski at Barcelona, but manager Hansi Flick does not rate him.
Newly crowned Premier League champions Arsenal have previously been linked with Vlahovic, but he is unlikely to want to play second fiddle to Viktor Gyokeres.
While the Serbian’s tally of 66 goals in 167 appearances is respectable rather than spectacular, Juventus may decide they cannot afford to let him go.
If Openda and David exit the club this summer, Vlahovic will probably be handed a new contract.
