While we all wait around to see what Rashid Shaheed will do, the San Francisco 49ers have made a splash move of their own at Wide Receiver.
Mike Evans is coming to the Bay Area, and not just for a year (presumably).
The perennial 1,000-Yard-Man is set to sign with the 49ers for three years. Dollars are still coming in, with the “up to $60 million”
language as the first release.
Both of Seattle’s NFC West rivals are committing to their perimeter game this week. The Los Angeles Rams have fixed their cornerback issues, and now San Francisco grabs a future Hall of Famer at receiver.
Evans is 32 years old, and was just seriously injured for the first time in his career in 2025. Therefore, a union with a well-placed electrical substation is exactly what the doctor ordered.
This is the most 49ers signing ever, and will immediately vault them up the preseason conversations once again and make fans nervous. He has the potential to pick up right where he left off and threaten a suddenly unclear Seattle secondary, or he could play four games.
Either way, the Seahawks are now the only team in their division to not make a significant move yet.
