Barcelona sporting director Deco appears to have ruled out signing any players in the January transfer window.
There have been a few whispers that Barcelona could try to sign a defender, after losing Inigo Martinez in the summer, but Deco says he’s not thinking about transfers at the moment.
“I don’t see us having to go to the winter transfer market for the moment. The season will tell you a lot. No player has asked to leave, and that hasn’t conditioned the market for us,“ he told the club’s General
Assembly.
Yet Deco stopped short of ruling out any signings entirely, adding: “We’ll be there whenever we need to. If something gets out of hand or if we need or want a player, I won’t name names; we’ll be attentive.”
Deco also spoke about the club’s summer transfer business which saw Marcus Rashford, Joan Garcia and Roony Bardghj arrive.
“We were clear that we needed Rashford, since last season we depended a lot on Raphinha and Lamine Yamal, we have made a loan with an option to buy,” he said and added that “with Roony we needed a player with his characteristics”.
Deco then discussed the decision to sign Joan Garcia: “Marc’s injury last year made us hurry up, it set off an alarm bell. We had been following Joan for two years and he was brought to us at the right time. The player’s decision is important , and we waited until the end of the season to approach him, we did it the right way.”
