The Braves are rolling (albeit in a bit of a strange way), and hey, this is the best news in a while:
Ronald Acuña Jr. has been on the shelf since June 10. He hurt his hamstring trying to run out a grounder in the June 9 loss, which was the game that kind of started the Braves’ long summer skid. Since then, he spent about a month working his way back to game shape, and then started a rehab assignment two weeks ago. While his rehab assignment numbers
are underwhelming, there’s a theme here about how he’s apparently going to underhit his inputs everywhere, so there’s not really anything to worry about performance-wise.
On the season, Acuña has a 121 wRC+, but that comes with a .350 wOBA / .378 xwOBA. Maybe, consistent with how the team has gotten very fortunate in the results department for the last few weeks, that fairy dust will descend on Acuña’s shoulders as well continue to fall on those of his teammates.
We’ll have the actual roster move post when it happens.
The Braves begin a series against the Mets in New York this evening.
