Denver Broncos training camp it now finally upon us. Later next week, they will report and training camp will be open to the fans who already vacuumed up the ‘free’ tickets to these public events. There are none left. That is the price of hype and high expectations. I am here for it.
The players are too. One of the best on the defense side of the ball, Nik Bonitto, was asked a few questions while at a charity event on Thursday. He was a myriad of questions covered on the teams’ main website, but it was two
comments that really stood out to me.
First, he talked about how he can improve his skillset next season. He understands there is always ways even the league’s most elite players can get better. He clearly has the drive and desire to be the best and for a defense that has league the NFL in sacks in back-to-back seasons, that is great to see.
“All facets,” said Bonitto of where he hopes to improve. “I still have a lot of room to grow in my game — in the run and in the pass. Just keep trying to fine-tune these things, keep looking at other guys around the league that are doing it at a high level and seeing how I can put it into my game to continue to be the best player I know I can be.”
He then segued into how the team is feel about the upcoming season and the hunger is there. They finished one game from the Super Bowl without their franchise quarterback in that final defeat, so the expectations have to be through the roof in that locker room heading into this season.
“I’m really excited,” Bonitto said. “Especially how the season ended, I know everybody’s champing at the bit to get the pads back on and compete against each other these next couple months. It’s going to be real fun for sure.”
That is a big deal to be honest. A team can only go as far as the players in that building and if they are driven by an intense desire for greatness combined with superior talent, then the sky is truly the limit for these guys.
