Ajax boss Michel says he’s still hoping that goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen
can join his club from Barcelona on a season-long loan. The two clubs remain in talks over a temporary transfer but a deal is still yet to be agreed, with the latest updates suggesting Ter Stegen’s salary remains an issue.
Michel has been asked about the situation and seems to be optimistic the deal will go through.
“Everyone knows what’s going on. Hopefully, he can help us, and we’ll be able to talk about him soon,” he said,
per Mundo Deportivo.
“[Jordi Cruyff] He communicates with me daily about the available options, about what’s happening. We want to attract players who can help Ajax grow as a team.
“We want to make the right decisions, but processes in the world of football aren’t simple. We have to take it one step at a time.”
Ter Stegen played under Michel briefly at Girona last season before injury cut short his season. The hope is that the two can be reunited again in the Eredivisie for the 2026-27 season.
