What a surprise on this Tuesday night, as class of 2027 5-star point guard Reese Alston has completed his official visit with Kentucky Basketball, he announced on Twitter.
Alston originally planned to visit Lexington from Oct. 13-14 but made the trip earlier than expected.
The 6-foot-2, 175-pound point guard plays for Second Baptist School in Houston, Texas. According to 247 Sports Composite, Alston is ranked No. 9 nationally, No. 3 among point guards and the No. 1 overall player in the state of Texas.
Alston announced in August that he had narrowed his recruitment to seven schools: Houston, Kentucky, LSU, Louisville, Tennessee, Vanderbilt and Wichita State.
So far, Alston has taken official visits to Louisville, Wichita State, LSU and Tennessee.
Before this year, Alston first received an offer from Kentucky in 2025 during an unofficial visit to Lexington for Big Blue Madness.
Alston also has a strong connection to Kentucky head coach Mark Pope through his father, Rafer Alston, who played in the NBA and was teammates with Pope from 2000-02 with the Milwaukee Bucks.
With that connection, Pope has made Alston a priority in the 2027 recruiting class. Pope has also gone to see Alston play on the Puma Pro16 Circuit in Texas.
During his junior season, Alston averaged 22.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 2.7 steals per game while earning MaxPreps Junior All-American First Team honors.
