Barcelona goalscorer Dani Olmo was full of praise for goalkeeper Joan Garcia after he put on a masterclass during Saturday’s 2-0 win over former club Espanyol.
Garcia received a hostile reception from the home fans but did not let it affect him and went on to put on a simply brilliant performance to keep a clean sheet and help his team pick up an important win.
Here’s what Olmo had to say after the game.
“Celebrating the new year with a victory, we’re very happy. We knew they were going to make things
difficult for us. They played a great game, but so did we, and we were more clinical. Now on to the Super Cup,” he told the media.
“We have to be switched on, those who start and those who come off the bench. That’s what it’s all about, we’re a team. Joan is incredible. He’s a fantastic goalkeeper. He had a great game in front of his former fans, a clean sheet. He’s going to give us a lot, he already is.”
It was also a fine night for Olmo on his return from injury. The Spain star is back after recovering from a dislocated shoulder and broke the deadlock before Robert Lewandowski finished off Espanyol.
