Good morning, baseball fans!
It’s Friday, so instead of focusing on the recent woes or successes of the San Francisco Giants, I wanted to stir the pot and start a conversation about weird series lengths.
As someone whose life kind of revolves around the baseball schedule, I have to say that I strongly dislike four-game (and also two-game) series. I get that the schedules have to provide days off, while also making sure that there are games on every day, and many other logistical factors that go into
organizing something as complicated as a season schedule for 30 teams that have to play a specific number of games against each other.
That’s a logistical nightmare that I want no part in, thank you very much.
So I guess I shouldn’t complain that much. But somehow it always seems like these long series always come at the worst possible time against the worst possible teams. Oh, your team just played three games against the Colorado Rockies? Here’s four more, at Coors Field. RIP to your pitchers. Or like, Oh, you just got your butt kicked by the San Diego Padres? Now you get to head down and do it four more times, this time at their park. Have fun!
How do you feel about four-game series?
