Barcelona received some very good news on the status of Gavi as the midfielder has seen “notable improvement” in his recovery over the last week and will likely avoid surgery, according to Javi Miguel of Diario AS.
The report says Gavi is responding very well to the conservative treatment to address a meniscus issue in his surgically repaired right knee and the pain has subsided in recent days. There’s healthy optimism with Gavi’s recovery and there’s a chance he could return to training with the group
as early as next week if the progress continues.
Barça will not rush Gavi’s return and will ensure he’s 100% healthy before he comes back to the group dynamic, so there is no timetable for his return as of yet. However, the report does say that there’s at least a chance Gavi could be available for the monster Champions League clash with PSG on October 1.
Gavi hasn’t played since August 23 and was facing the prospect of a second operation on his knee that could have sidelined him for a couple of months, but his improvement in the last week has certainly changed his mood and the mood of Barça’s medical team.
