(50-70) Gwinnett Stripers @ (64-55) Memphis Redbirds – 7:45 PM ET
Pitching Probables
GWI: Carlos Carrasco (4-2, 3.27 ERA)
MEM: Max Rajcic (0-1, 4.03 ERA)
After three starts in a Braves jersey, Carlos Carrasco makes his Stripers debut tonight at 7:45. Carlos is coming off of a rough last start when he surrendered six runs over two innings against the New York Mets in New York. He will face off against RHP Max Rajcic who was recently promoted to Triple-A, and making his sixth start for the Redbirds. Max has been solid in the month of August, having made three starts for a combined
3.52 ERA. He has once faced the Stripers, back on July 27th, when he gave up two earned runs over four innings of work.
Max will face a Stripers team who have had a bit of a makeover. With the addition of Jesús Bastidas, the return of Luke Waddell, and the recent addition of David McCabe, who homered last night, along with Carlos Rodriguez who also homered, the Stripers lineup is much improved from earlier versions of itself.
(59-55) Pensacola Blue Wahoos @ (48-64) Columbus Clingstones – 7:05 PM ET
Pitching Probables
PEN: Jake Brooks (0-2, 7.63 ERA)
COL: Lucas Braun (4-4, 4.35 ERA)
Lucas Braun will try to right the ship after a rough last start (4.2IP 5H 6R 5ER 4BB 8K) against the Biloxi Shuckers on August 14th. Lucas has faced Pensacola four times this year, with his appearance against them coming July 13th (3IP 0H 0R 0BB 3K). He goes against Jake Brooks who was promoted to Double-A just three starts ago. Jake’s last start came on the 13th of August where he surrendered five earned runs, on 12 hits.
He faces the new look Clingstones who feature an improved lineup themselves with the addition of Patrick Clohisy. Since McCabe is now over in Gwinnett, it will be interesting to see who, if anyone, fills that void for the Clingstones. They will need some help after last night where they went 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position and stranding 11 on base.
(50-63) Rome Emperors @ (48-65) Asheville Tourists – 6:35 PM ET
Pitching Probables
ROM: Adam Maier (4-10, 5.71 ERA)
ASH: Andrew Taylor (2-3, 3.42 ERA)
The streaking Rome Emperors look to continue their strong run of play and turn to Adam Maier to hopefully provide yet another dynamic start for the Emperors who have showed out on the mound of late. Adam himself has done an admirable job on the mound his last two starts (8.1IP 8H 5ER 3BB 4K), in what has been a down year for the pitcher. He goes against Andrew Taylor who last faced the Emperors back on June 1st (2IP 3H 0R 0BB 3K).
The top 5 hitters for the Emperors have them surging as Colby Jones, Alex Lodise, Cody Miller, Isaiah Drake, and Logan Braunschweig are some of the Braves top positional prospects. As a result, strong pitching and hitting have help lead Rome on a six game winning streak.
(53-60) Columbia Fireflies @ (61-50) Augusta GreenJackets – 7:05 PM ET
Pitching Probables
COL: Kendry Chourio (1-2, 4.97 ERA)
AUG: Cam Caminiti (1-1, 2.29 ERA)
Augusta saw their winning streak come to an end and turn to Cam Caminiti and his hot arm to start their next one. Cam is on a great stretch of play, having not surrendered more than two runs in a start since June 15th. His last start saw him battling the umpire and his zone just a bit, resulting in just a four inning appearance (4IP 5H 1ER 3BB 4K). He faces off against Kendry Chourio who has found himself in Low-A after starting the season in the Dominican Summer League. His last start was the finest of his young career (5IP 0H 0R 0BB 4K).
