It still feels really strange to me that WWE won’t hold its annual Money in the Bank event this year until Oct. 10, 2026, when they hit the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. Traditionally, the show has been held in the summer, in June or July. However, these days they are doing King & Queen of the Ring tournaments that crown top contenders for SummerSlam. It makes sense, then, to push Money in the Bank back to the fall.
It also means less time until WrestleMania season and, hopefully,
far less time sitting around waiting for a cash in.
As for this year, I’m wondering who you, dear reader, believe are the top contenders to win the men’s and women’s Money in the Bank contracts.
On the men’s side, there are some candidates that always seem poised for a breakout, like Bron Breakker and, when he comes back from injury, his fellow Vision stablemate Bronson Reed. Then you have mid-card champions who could get the push to the top, like Penta or Trick Williams. Then you have main event mainstays who just need another excuse, like GUNTHER or Sami Zayn.
On the women’s side, it’s a similar layout. There are always established names like Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch who are a legitimate threat but there are up-and-comers you could definitely argue deserve a shout, like Sol Ruca or maybe even Maxxine Dupri.
What’s interesting to me right now is there doesn’t feel like an obvious winner in either case. For my money, I would say Trick Willy is a strong candidate on the men’s side — think of what he would do to that briefcase, it would move so well on WWE Shop — while I’d like to see a strong main event push from a surprise on the women’s side, like maybe giving Ruca or Roxanne Perez a chance to take it and run with it.
Tell me what you think, Cagesiders.
Who ya got?
