Alessandro Bastoni is being tipped to stay at Inter despite continued links with Barcelona ahead of the summer transfer window.
The defender’s future did look to lie away from Serie A, particularly after his red card for Italy in World Cup qualifying which led Giuseppe Bergomi to say Bastoni “will have to leave Italy for his own safety.”
However, the latest update on the situation suggests that Bastoni could end up staying after all. According to the Corriere dello Sport, the defender “isn’t considering
leaving Inter” and his current desire is to stay.
Bastoni has received support from Inter’s president, manager and team-mates – which seems to have helped – with the CdS claiming now that the defender feels once again that “Inter is ‘his’ team: the one he wants to stay in, regardless of the climate outside.”
Barcelona have reportedly made Bastoni their top transfer target ahead of the summer transfer window but may be forced to look elsewhere if he does rule out moving on.
Luka Vušković and Micky van de Ven have been mentioned previously as players Barcelona are also keen on to strengthen their backline.
