Sky Germany journalist Kerry Hau captured some comments from Bayern Munich CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen, where the executive praised head coach Vincent Kompany and goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, while also offering a stern warning to the squad for next week:
“Vincent, we all owe you a special debt of gratitude. You got the team perfectly tuned to the opponent, to the game, to this stadium. You did that fantastically. A great team performance. And today we had something Madrid didn’t. Our X-factor. Our world-class
goalkeeper. Manu, you were extraordinary today.” Thunderous applause in the hall. But Dreesen warns: “We’re only leading by one goal. We need another performance like that in the return leg.”
Dreesen is on-point, Kompany has propelled this squad to new heights, while Neuer was head-and-shoulders above everyone else on the pitch vs. Real Madrid. Now, as Dreesen said, though, the Bavarians will need to be even better next week against a desperate and hungry Real Madrid squad at the Allianz.
Now…the real fun begins.
