What is the story about?
Following the game, let’s look at how each player changed their stock. Keep in mind that information can be hard to come by for players, depending on their performance or their position. If anyone else can find info, please post in the comments.
That all being said, here is the information found for the players.
The Players:
EDGE Keyshawn James-Newby (New Mexico)
- Synopsis: James-Newby was one of the stars of the week at the Shrine Bowl. His name was constantly popping up from those in attendance. His pass-rushing ability was on full display, as he showed off a few different moves and won matchups against better competition. Also, the video clip featuring his run defense is important as it could be a factor that has him higher on the team’s boards than other EDGE players. It’s clear Keyshawn made the most of his opportunity.
- Stock Report: WAY UP
DB Bryce Phillips (San Diego State)
- Synopsis: Phillips was a late addition to the Shrine Bowl, announced after practices began. Unfortunately, not much popped up online for him, aside from being added to the roster and San Diego State sharing some photos of him being there.
- Stock Report: N/A
OL Christian Jones (San Diego State)
Among the “losers” in this post.
- Synopsis: Jones was another late addition, but unfortunately did have some writeups captured. It sounds like his technique was a bit off, leading to penalties and would-be sacks allowed. He will have to clean that up before his pro day.
- Stock Report: DOWN
OL Caden Barnett (Wyoming)
Among the “winners” in this post.
- Synopsis: Barnett played in his second bowl of the cycle and created positive momentum for himself. He has performed steadily and consistently, winning matchups, which counts for a lot as an offensive lineman. It’s safe to assume he is firmly on several draft boards following two strong showings this month.
- Stock Report: UP
