The following players will not practice for the San Francisco 49ers on Wednesday:
DT James Thompson Jr. (ankle)
EDGE Nick Bosa (calf)
FB Kyle Juszczyk (knee)
S Marques Sigle (ankle)
CB Upton Stout (shoulder)
Stout would be a big loss. He’s rushed the passer the 11th-most among all cornerbacks in the league. Stout’s a big part of Raheem Morris’s blitz packages. That’s somebody who we will monitor as the week goes along.
These players will be limited:
EDGE Mykel Williams (knee) WR Mike Evans (ribs) RB
Kaelon Black (sick)
We’ll see if Black being limited eats into his snaps. Kyle Shanahan had high praise for Deebo Samuel on Wednesday, saying there are no limitations or specific packages for Deebo:
“You put the ball in Deebo’s hand, and he can execute it. He runs as good as anyone. That’s why we put him at kick returner, possible punt returner. However you get the ball. There’s a game when we used to play when we were younger, but I can’t say the name of it anymore. It’s tackle the guy with the ball with no rules to it. I always say he’d be my first pick in the draft if that was the game.”
Shanahan said the toughest part for a running back is learning the different tracks you have to take. Another issue is the wear and tear.
