According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Green Bay Packers are not expecting right tackle Zach Tom to play against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football. Tom was injured in Week 1, dropping out with an oblique injury. He returned to the field in Week 3, but only for one play before being unable to push through the pain of his injury.
The Packers wound up having their worst pass protection performance in the Matt LaFleur era against the Cleveland Browns, which included quarterback Jordan Love taking
five sacks and left guard Aaron Banks also dropping out due to an injury. In total, Green Bay had to use four different offensive line sets against the Browns, bringing their total number over the course of three games to nine — which leads the NFL in 2025.
LaFleur stated earlier this week that Tom did not reaggravate his injury. He just miscalculated how much pain came with pushing through the injury.
In Week 1, Darian Kinnard came off the bench to replace Tom at right tackle. In Week 2, it was second-round rookie Anthony Belton who started in Tom’s place. In Week 3, 2024 first-round pick Jordan Morgan played right tackle once Tom went down, only to be moved to left guard when Banks dropped out of action. Morgan was then replaced by Belton, who was later replaced for four plays by Kinnard when Belton had to kick to the left side. On those plays, left tackle Rasheed Walker was on the sideline dealing with a helmet issue.
So if you’re wondering who is going to replace Tom on Sunday…good luck. Your guess is as good as anyone’s at this point.
