Going into the Dallas Cowboys opening game of the 2025 season, there were a lot of dark clouds hanging over the team. There was little faith from the media that the team would rebound from 2024. They were breaking in a new head coach, they had some injury issues in the secondary, and then something else happened. Oh yeah, they traded their best player, Micah Parsons.
On top of that, they had to go on the road and play the reigning world champions, their hated NFC East rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles.
Given all that, when we asked about confidence in the direction of the team before Week 1, only 35% of respondents felt things were headed in the right direction. That was the lowest among all fanbases of the 32 NFL teams based on SB Nation polls. Only the Dolphins (45%) and the Colts (44%) fanbases were close.
But after the Cowboys played a very competitive game against the Eagles that could have been a win with a few CeeDee Lamb catches, the mood has definitely changed. Now, 68% of respondents think the team is headed in the right direction.

That is quite the turnaround. In another turnaround for another team, only in the other direction, New York Giants fans went from 92% confidence before Week 1 to 27% confidence heading into this week.
