Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being
churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.
Important reminder: Rumors are just that — rumors. None of this has been confirmed as fact, it’s just circulating around the pro wrestling rumor mill. We track rumor accuracy in a weekly feature called Rumor Look Back you can find here. Remember, take it all with a grain of salt.
Rumors for the Day:
- For whatever it’s worth, former WWE star Brodus Clay aka Tyrus told TMZ’s Inside the Ring podcast that he thinks there is a good chance President Trump will be in attendance for the final match of John Cena’s WWE career at Saturday Night’s Main Event in December. He also said Trump might be involved in the finish to the match.
- Wrestling Observer Radio’s Dave Meltzer heard there is “a lot of political stuff going on there right now” when it comes to WWE star Shinsuke Nakamura possibly being booked as Hiroshi Tanahashi’s final opponent at the Tokyo Dome for NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 20 in January.
- Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp says Nyla Rose’s absence from AEW programming has nothing to do with an injury. It’s possible that she doesn’t even know why Tony Khan hasn’t booked her, which is a common reaction for AEW stars who disappear from creative plans with no explanation.
- PW Insider’s Mike Johnson said he’d “be shocked” if WWE “didn’t have the right to purchase [TNA] outright if someone else made an offer.”
- Duke Loves Rasslin was told that somebody in AEW is planting a story that Tony Khan didn’t hire D-Von Dudley because he caught him sleeping backstage. Dudley said, “No, that’s not the case.” However, he “probably” did fall asleep backstage at AEW because he was bored while sitting around for so long waiting to meet Khan.
- On the latest episode of Something To Wrestle with John Layfield, JBL said it’s really true that Vince McMahon fired Brad Maddox in 2015 for using the word “pricks” during a pre-show promo. McMahon got rid of Maddox because he thought it was a “classless word.” This is also a reminder that Vince isn’t around in WWE anymore, seeing that Becky Lynch recently called Paul Heyman a “penguin-faced prick” on Raw.
- Fightful Select mentioned that Mance Warner and Steph De Lander both signed TNA contracts earlier this year that run through the middle of 2026.
