Bayern Munich’s youth talent has been making big waves in recent years. Aleksander Pavlović and Lennart Karl breaking through to the first team after growing in the academy are two recent examples that come to mind. However, the next case study of this might just be Bayern’s very own Cassiano Kiala.
Kiala has been highly respected internally at the club and while he was poised for his breakthrough last season, he had a major injury setback. While things didn’t go to plan last season, Kiala has now
resumed team training for the first time since his severe ankle injury in February, as reports from Kerry Hau, as captured by @iMiaSanMia.
While there is no official timeline for Kiala to be back on the pitch, there isn’t an urgent need to get him back on the pitch. As eager as Kiala is, Jonathan Tah and Dayot Upamecano will take care of the backline for the time being, but Kiala will certainly want to make a name for himself this season.
As reports heat up over Bayern Munich’s interest in VfB Stuttgart’s Finn Jeltsch, Kiala will have a bit more pressure to cement his name this season. Do Bayern have another young star in the squad or will they need to make a marquee signing next summer?
