Welcome to The Linc, the daily Philadelphia Eagles links roundup at Bleeding Green Nation!
Dallas Goedert hasn’t found the end zone since he scored twice in Week 1. Perhaps that’ll change here on Sunday night. Goedert having a big game in the national spotlight could be ideal in terms of helping his trade value.
Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles news and links …
Fantasy football start/sit advice for Week 8 at QB, RB, WR, TE – SB Nation
Dallas Goedert, Eagles vs. Commanders. The Eagles are hard to
trust, but Goedert gets an excellent matchup here against the Commanders. On the season they’ve allowed the second-most touchdowns, the fifth-most yards and the second-most fantasy points to the position. In Week 1 Goedert caught 4-of-5 targets for 77 yards and two touchdowns against this same team. That was with Jalen Hurts of course, but Tanner McKee is targeting Goedert, as he has 17 receptions over their last three games. Unfortunately those receptions haven’t led to a lot of fantasy scoring, but this week I like his chances to find the end zone.
Saquon Barkley trade rumors: Eagles running back to remain in Philly – BGN
The Philadelphia Eagles will NOT be trading Saquon Barkley ahead of the NFL trade deadline on Tuesday, November 10, according to reporting from ESPN. “Still, Howie Roseman and the Eagles believe they still have plenty of talent on the roster to compete in 2027 and beyond. That’s why, according to sources, they’ve made it clear to teams they’re not considering trading Barkley.” It’s a bit ironic that there’s talk about the Eagles’ long-term vision for Barkley on the same day that they’re counting on him to play through significant injury in a risky attempt to salvage a sinking 2026 season.
Game Preview – PHI at WAS – Iggles Blitz
WRs DeVonta Smith and Dontayvion Wicks are out. We saw good things from Makai Lemon, Darius Cooper, and Hollywood Brown last week. They will need to make plays for the passing game to have success. Obviously QB Tanner McKee must do his part. He made a good leap from his first start to last week. He still must get better. There were too many plays that he left on the field due to bad reads or bad throws. Washington loves to blitz. Handling the blitz has been a problem for the Eagles all year long. You can bet they will get tested in this game. The backup RBs will need to do their part in pass protection. McKee isn’t a guy who is going to win with his legs. He needs a pocket and some time to throw. I do think Sean Mannion and the offensive coaches made some good adjustments last week. Having a solid OL and good running game both helped in a big way.
Eagles-Commanders among the worst ‘Sunday Night Football’ games in 30 years – Inquirer
The Eagles are in the nation’s capital to face the Washington Commanders in one of the worst Sunday Night Football matchups to ever air on NBC, at least on paper. After both teams went winless in October, they enter their Week 8 matchup with a combined three wins, boasting a win percentage of .269 (the NFL counts ties as half a win). Take out early-season games in September, and it’s the first Sunday Night Football game since NBC took over in 2006 to feature teams with a combined win percentage below .300, according to ProGridSpots. It’ll also be just the 11th time during that 30-year span both teams will walk away from their Sunday Night Football matchup with a record below .500, according to The Athletic.
How to bet Eagles-Commanders: Analysis, tips and top prop plays – ESPN
I prefer Philadelphia with the points because Washington hasn’t earned this much separation. The Commanders are allowing 28.7 points per game and have given up touchdowns on 18 of 22 opposing red zone trips. Philadelphia doesn’t need a complete offensive turnaround to make a few scoring opportunities count. Washington’s offense also converts just 30.9% of third downs, making me reluctant to assume it can build a lead and consistently extend it. Getting more than a field goal is beneficial when neither team has been dependable offensively. A bet on the over requires less of an offensive breakout than the low points total suggests. A 23-20 game gets there, and both defenses allow at least 25 points per game. But those averages aren’t enough alone. Philadelphia’s injuries could lead to promising possessions ending in punts. I see enough defensive weakness for the over to hit, but the Eagles covering feels like the stronger position.
NFL 2027 mock draft, top 10 picks: Jets trade up for Drew Mestemaker – The Athletic
4) Philadelphia Eagles: Dylan Stewart, edge, South Carolina. It’s pretty weird seeing the Eagles up here, in any scenario. The last time they drafted this early in Round 1, they wound up with Jalen Carter — the best defensive athlete in his draft class. Stewart would be the same thing. He’s a freakish edge prospect, at 6-5, 245, with tremendous athleticism and versatility as a pass rusher. He’s had some maturity issues, which led to South Carolina and the SEC suspending him earlier this season. But he’s back on the field and playing well.
2026 NFL trade deadline: Potential landing spots for RB Jonathan Taylor, S Budda Baker and more – NFL.com
BUDDA BAKER — WHAT HE OFFERS: The 30-year-old safety is a prime target for a team looking to add an experienced playmaker. Baker’s sizable contract could require a suitor to get creative, but the eight-time Pro Bowler is a valuable asset as a box-area defender built to play multiple spots in a three-safety scheme. With the league trending toward more sub-package looks, Baker could intrigue a squad looking to upgrade its versatility and playmaking potential in the secondary. As a glue guy who brings leadership, physicality and ball-hawking skills to the field, Baker is a force multiplier on any roster. TEAM FITS: Buffalo Bills, Jacksonville Jaguars, Philadelphia Eagles.
Philadelphia’s Michael Carter II Selected as Week 8 NFLPA Community MVP – NFLPA
Michael Carter II has been named the Week 8 NFLPA Community MVP after hosting Baby Shower on the Block, a free community maternal and infant health event for pregnant and postpartum mothers enrolled in Medicaid. “Being named the NFLPA Community MVP means everything to me,” Carter said. “Maternal health is not talked about enough, especially in communities where families are already navigating so much. Baby Shower on the Block was about meeting moms where they are — with real resources, real information and real support. This recognition belongs to every family who showed up and every partner who made it possible.” The Philadelphia Eagles cornerback and his nonprofit, The Michael Carter II Foundation, welcomed more than 100 community members, including 40 expectant and new mothers and their families. The event featured two educational panels, one focused on mental health and prenatal and maternal care, followed by another centered on fatherhood. Carter served as a panelist, highlighting the important role fathers play in supporting healthy pregnancies and early childhood development. Attendees also received essential supplies including car seats, pack ‘n plays and diapers as well as a health education plan to support ongoing care coordination.
As Eagles prepare for Sunday night, questions of effort from Monday night linger – PFT
The reporters eventually attempted to address the confusion by explaining to Sirianni the perception that effort was an issue. So what does Sirianni think about the questions in that regard? “I think in that situation, everyone’s going to look to find answers in a five-game losing streak,” Sirianni said. “Just because the result — If we win that game, do they still question the effort? I don’t know. I can’t — I’m not them. My job is to look at the daily process of it and the daily work and what objectively happened in that game and not react based off of the outcome. I get it. I would understand [that] everyone’s looking for answers. I don’t give you a lot of answers up here. I get that. I understand that. I do respect the job that you guys have to do, but I’m always going to probably keep it tight to the vest. “But again, it’s not about the outcome. . . . We’re outcome-aware — but it is about the process that goes [into] it, what happens Monday through Saturday. What happens Monday through Saturday is usually what happens in the game in my experience. That’s why you need great week of preparation, but I’m not letting the outcome dictate how I grade the film. I’m grading the film objectively based off of what I see on a weekly basis.” What everyone sees is a team in a tailspin, with the most recent Super Bowl win fading deep into the rear-view mirror. They get their next chance to turn things around on Sunday night, when they face the 1-4-1 Commanders.
Eagles’ Eli Stowers ready to build on his solid NFL debut – NBCSP
Stowers, 23, played 12 snaps on offense and was targeted one time without a catch. But Stowers did some positive things away from the football, which likely impressed his coaches. “Every single play there’s something that you can do to help the offense be successful,” Stowers said. “Everybody’s got a job on every single play and so it’s every single rep. How can you be intentional about what your job is? Whether it’s getting open, catching the ball, blocking for somebody, running off for somebody. How can you do that to the best of your abilities? That’s what I try to do.”
Raiders News: Jack Bech activated, Patrick Johnson to IR – Silver And Black Pride
In a corresponding move, [former Eagles draft pick] Patrick Johnson was sent to IR. Johnson was a great story this preseason, making the football team after signing right before camp. Now he goes to injury reserve to help make room for Jack Bech on the roster.
Buffalo Bills add defensive backs from practice squad for Week 8’s game vs. Ravens – Buffalo Rumblings
[Former Eagles defensive back] A.J. Woods is the newest member of this Bills defense. The 2024 undrafted free agent has been on four other teams before the Bills signed him to the practice squad in early October. He has familiarity with Jim Leonhard having spent part of the 2025 campaign on the Broncos practice squad.
NY Giants John Harbaugh violated norms, called Titans ownership about Jeffery Simmons – Big Blue View
New York Giants head coach John Harbaugh took the extraordinary step of calling Tennessee Titans ownership directly in an effort to acquire star defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons, according to a startling report from Jonathan Jones of The Athletic. Per Jones, that breaks with “traditional NFL trade-talk norms” where general managers deal directly with each other. Jones reported that Harbaugh contacted Titans owner Amy Adams Strunk after Giants GM Joe Schoen had been told by Titans GM Mike Borgonzi that Simmons, a 29-year-old four-time Pro Bowler and 2025 First-Team All-Pro, would not be traded. Strunk apparently gave Harbaugh the same message. That obviously changed when the Chicago Bears made a Godfather offer to the Titans of two first-round and a fourth-round draft pick. Per Jones, one GM said Harbaugh’s call to Strunk “violates a code amongst primary football decision-makers, that they will only deal with each other.”
Cowboys soft November schedule keeps playoff hopes alive – Blogging The Boys
After last week’s 38-21 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles, the Dallas Cowboys have a chance to stack multiple wins together with a favorable schedule ahead of them in the month of November. They play four out of their next five games at home and will face only one team with a winning record. The Cowboys kick off the month of November against the Arizona Cardinals and close it out against the Philadelphia Eagles on Thanksgiving. Both of these games should be winnable, and we’ll make a case for why they can win all of them in November.
Washington Commanders make several DL roster moves before Eagles game – Hogs Haven
The Washington Commanders announced a few roster moves before they host the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday Night Football tomorrow night. DT Jer’Zhan Newton (pectoral) had his 21-day practice window opened this week, but he won’t be activated and has been downgraded to out for the Eagles game. The Commanders ruled out DT Daron Payne yesterday after he suffered a Jones fracture at practice. That’s a big blow to Washington’s defensive line, and will be an issue this week with Javon Kinlaw (knee) already ruled out.
