Former Barcelona defender Sergino Dest has admitted he would love to play for the club again and feels he would be a good fit under current boss Hansi Flick.
Dest joined Barcelona in 2020 from Ajax and went on to make 72 appearances for the club. He enjoyed loan spells with AC Milan and PSV before signing for the Eredivisie side permanently in 2024.
The 25-year-old also says he’s not the only person that thinks he would be a good match for Flick’s Barca.
“Signing for Barça would still be a dream. Hansi
Flick’s style of play is incredible. I think I would fit in well,” he told NPO Radio.
“I spoke with Araujo a while ago after the match between the United States and Uruguay, and we had a good chat.
“He told me that he and Frenkie sometimes say they don’t understand why I was sold, that I would fit in well here.”
Dest is currently contracted to PSV until 2028 but refused to rule out moving on when asked about his future.
“I think PSV is a great club, so the history of another club has to be good. But I want to keep testing myself. It also has to do with the Eredivisie,” he added.
“I want to be able to improve myself every week in a more important league and measure myself against the best. There is interest from clubs, but there is nothing concrete yet. That is still far from happening.”
