Following the bouncing ball of Cleveland Browns TE Carsen Ryan’s last few weeks is interesting, to say the least. The Browns 2026 seventh-round draft pick has:
- been waived to make room for QB Dillon Gabriel
- signed back to Cleveland’s practice squad
- been elevated for Week 8 versus the Pittsburgh Steelers
- signed to the Browns active 53-man roster on Wednesday
- once again waived on Thursday
The last one, today, is an interesting one, and was first shared on DBN in The Feed:
Cleveland practiced earlier in the afternoon on Thursday, with no indication of an issue with Ryan. The team’s release makes no mention of an injury or injury settlement associated with him being waived.
It is possible that the Browns have a pending transaction,
especially with the NFL trade deadline just days away, but generally trades are completed earlier in a preparation week. With Ryan being signed to the active roster just 24 hours ago, the timing is at best interesting and at worst confusing.
Ryan had played in seven games this season, with 85 snaps on special teams and two on offense.
What do you think led to Ryan being waived?
