According to a report from Marca journalist Matteo Moretto, Bayern Munich is not taking a potential pursuit of PSV Eindhoven outside-back Sergiño Dest too seriously just yet. In fact, right now, the Bavarians see it more of a “market opportunity” than a serious pursuit.
So, what does that mean? Essentially that Dest could be available for an affordable fee, which would make him appealing to Bayern Munich. Below, is the information from Moretto (as captured by @iMiaSanMia):
Bayern are considering Sergiño
Dest as a market opportunity. For now, it’s a name on the list – nothing advanced yet. Awaiting to see possible departures.
There was a number of €20 million to €25 million attached to Dest, but those numbers are speculative at this point (you can read that initial report here). A more recent report from Eindhovens Dagblad journalist Rik Elfrink, who has been all over this story from the get-go, broke down the specifics of the cost on Dest and who will benefit from his potential sale (via @iMiaSanMia):
Sergiño Dest has a release clause worth €23-25m in his contract. Bayern and other clubs are showing interest. Barcelona hold a sell-on clause of around 20%, that means €5m would go to them.
Bayern Munich has had long-term interest in Dest that dates back at least six years. His ability to play both outside-back positions would be appealing to Bayern Munich.
