The elaborate branches of Maryland women’s lacrosse’s alumni coaching tree continue to grow, as former attacker Caroline Steele steps into an assistant coaching role at USC.
Steele’s hiring marks one of the many coaching positions filled by former Terps in collegiate wommen’s lacrosse. In Maryland’s 2026 season – when Steele served as the team’s director of operations
– it faced three former players as head coaches, along with its former head coach, Cindy Timchal.
Steele was a two-time national champion as a Terp, serving as a consistent starter from 2016 through their last title run in 2019. She scored 205 goals and tallied 264 points during her time in College Park, solidifying herself as an all-time great at Maryland.
Steele’s talents have continued to blossom at the professional level, as the former Terp now serves as an attacker for the California Palms in the WLL.
