Bayern Munich kept fighting after two crucial mistakes cost them a victory against FC Augsburg. Manuel Neuer made two uncharacteristic errors that led to both goals, yet Bayern still managed to score twice, saw another four goals ruled out for offside, and missed several other chances along the way. This match truly had everything.
“There’s no easy away game. We had so many chances. We actually didn’t think we would have this many chances—29 shots, four offside goals. We made two mistakes that cost
us two goals. That’s football sometimes,” Kompany said (as captured by X account @iMiaSanMia). “Of course, I can’t say I’m happy because we didn’t win. I think we definitely deserved to score more goals. But when you make two mistakes like that, you also can’t say you deserve to win. I said that to the boys. It was a rollercoaster with all these offside goals, but the boys showed mentality and kept going. We have to move on to the next one.”
The Bavarians must now regroup to ensure a near miss like this does not happen again, especially with a massive home match against Arsenal looming large.
