The last month of basketball has been one disappointment after another for Ole Miss, but Wednesday, yes THIS WEDNESDAY, is going to be different.
Maybe. It’s college basketball who knows?
The SEC’s last place LSU Tigers (14-13, 2-12 SEC) and the SEC’s next to last place Ole Miss Rebels (11-16, 3-11 SEC) will battle to stay out of the basement of the conference on Wednesday. Not intrigued? You must not frequent Tunica, Miss. or have a gambling app on your phone, and I, for one, would be ashamed to not dabble
in making money off this game.
You gotta be thinking the author of this post is crazier than a shithouse rat, who would put money on Ole Miss basketball right now? Stick with me as LSU is favored by oddsmakers at -11.5 on Wednesday night. This is not an LSU team that should be able to pile up 80+ points on the road as they have averaged less than 75 points its last 10 games.
This game is just simply about pride at this point for Ole Miss. This isn’t a top 25 team they may feel overmatched by or a road game in a hostile environment. This is a team it should be able to beat or at the very least hold close on its home court in a season where there has not been many positives.
Malik Dia is coming off a 24-point game against top 25 Florida, and I would expect him to have another big game to lead the way. Chris Beard has to know this is one of those games that is winnable and honestly in a down year you need to win just to show things haven’t completely cratered.
Ole Miss and LSU tip off at 8 p.m. CT in Oxford with the game being broadcast on SEC Network and streamed on the ESPN app.
