The Pittsburgh Steelers have claimed wide receiver Colton Dowell off waivers from the San Francisco 49ers, per the NFL transaction wire. They have also claimed tight end Lance Mason from the Seattle Seahawks.
These moves come in direct correspondence with the releases of wide receiver A.T. Perry and tight end J.J. Galbreath.
Dowell signed with the 49ers in January on a futures contract. He has also spent time with the Baltimore Ravens and Tennessee Titans, most notably appearing in 10 games with the Titans in 2023.
Mason is a rookie out of Wisconsin. He caught 30 passes and four touchdowns in 2025.
The Steelers will take to the practice field at Latrobe Memorial Stadium on Saturday for their yearly night practice. They’ll take the field in preseason play for the first time next Thursday when they host the Green Bay Packers.
