As we look ahead to Gameweek 16, FPL managers are getting ready to set up their squads and secure as many points as possible.
Considering player form, upcoming fixtures, recent performances, and possible
international representation—especially for African players—these factors have influenced the decisions I’ve made with my team.
I’ll also be making a few replacements for the new gameweek, as some of my players are currently injured.
Game Week 15 Review
My team had a mixed performance in GW15. Some players met my expectations, while others didn’t deliver.
My goalkeeper, David Raya, had a difficult match in Arsenal’s 2–1 loss to Aston Villa, his second defeat in 15 gameweeks. He earned only 2 points. Still, with a home game against Wolves in GW16—one of the league’s weakest sides so far and still without a win—I’m keeping him and hoping for a clean sheet.
In defense, O’Reilly had a solid outing in his team’s 3–0 win over Sunderland. He played all 90 minutes, kept a clean sheet, and earned 6 points.
With an away match at Crystal Palace next, I’m holding onto him.
Thiaw of Newcastle also featured, but he couldn’t secure a clean sheet in their win over Burnley, picking up just 2 points.
Guehi was the standout in my backline. He has been reliable all season, and in GW15 he delivered 8 points after completing 90 minutes and scoring a goal. Even though he faces a tough matchup against Manchester City in GW16, I’m keeping him as a key piece of my defense.
Crystal Palace defenders have been strong options this season, and players like Munoz and Lacroix are great picks I’d recommend.
In midfield, Eze struggled, getting substituted at halftime during Arsenal’s 2–1 loss to Aston Villa and giving me just 1 point.
Bruno Guimarães was excellent, producing 10 points after scoring, playing the full 90 minutes, and collecting 3 bonus points.
Gakpo and Doku didn’t perform as well as expected, returning 2 and 3 points respectively.
My attack featured three players. Ekitike was the star, earning 13 points after scoring a brace in his team’s 3–3 draw with Leeds United and picking up 3 bonus points. Igor Thiago of Brentford disappointed with just 2 points after their loss to Spurs.
I captained Haaland expecting big returns, but even though City won 3–0, he blanked and gave me only 2 points from 68 minutes.
Unfortunately, I left a lot of points on my bench—Chalobah with 11, Diakité with 6, and Gravenberch with 5. I definitely wish I had activated my Bench Boost for this gameweek.
GW-16 FPL Preview:
FPL managers now have five transfers per gameweek, a change introduced with AFCON in mind to help handle potential player absences. It’s wise to avoid buying players who may be leaving for the tournament soon.
For GW16, I brought in Roefs to replace the injured Pope. I also replaced Semenyo with Gakpo, who is likely to miss the gameweek due to injury.
I’m keeping the captain’s armband on Haaland, even though he’ll play away at Crystal Palace. I’m counting on him to bounce back.
My team will line up in a 3-4-3 formation for GW16 after these changes. Chalobah comes off the bench to replace Thiaw, and I expect him to perform well at home against Everton. On my bench, I’ll have Roefs, Gravenberch, Diakité, and Thiaw, of course.
