The Brazilian was moved into a new position after the failed attempt to sign Julián Álvarez in the summer and has discovered a new level as a striker, and his perfect hat-trick in Saturday’s win against Sevilla was another display of just how special he’s been so far.
The astonishing return of 14 goals
in 8 games — a club record — speaks for itself, but Raphinha’s all-around game and perfect understanding of a position he had never played before are just as impressive to watch.
He was a deserved contender for the Ballon d’Or in 2025 after topping the Champions League scoring charts in Hansi Flick’s first season, but there is no doubt he has reached a new level to begin this campaign and it’s hard to find any other player on the planet who’s played as well as the Barça captain in the first six weeks of the season.
