Report: Olise wants Real move (Foot Mercato’s Santi Aouna)
We all knew this was going to happen — the second that France was eliminated, we would get an onslaught of rumors linking Bayern Munich star Michael Olise to Real Madrid.
It was inevitable.
Now, the first big report has dropped from Foot Mercato journo Santi Aouna, who sure makes it sound like Olise has his mind made up and also that the Bavarians are not 100% against letting him go if it becomes apparent he does not want to be at Bayern Munich:
🚨EXCL: ⚪️🇫🇷 #Liga |
✍️ Michael Olise wants to join Real
Madrid THIS SUMMER.
🏆 The French international believes it’s the perfect club to continue his progression.
💰 Real Madrid wants to pull off a record transfer.
❗️Bayern’s official stance: Olise is not for sale but the truth is more nuanced.
👀 The Bavarian club would like to extend his contract, but has also been in contact in parallel with players who could come in to replace him.
⏳ Olise will discuss with his leaders after the World Cup.
At this stage, it is still way too early for fans to react to anything. The report comes out of France, which could lend some semblance of credibility, but — again — it is far too early to tell.
Because Olise is a bit aloof and does not do many media appearances, he is a tough character to read and an easy one for opportunistic reporters to make assumptions about. That is not to say Aouna is doing that here, but some of his Spanish colleagues might see that as just the chance to take this info and run with it.
Olise is a few weeks from reporting to Bayern Munich for duty and likely will keep a low profile even if he wants to sign a contract extension with the Bavarians.
So…what should you take out of this report? It is too early to truly be concerned, but not too early to at least keep an eye on the news breaking around Olise to see what the patterns become. After weeks of hot transfer news, Bayern Munich then shut it all down.
Later…there was more silence before some of the most recent reports about a potential move to Real Madrid for Olise.
We shall see what’s next! Will the Bavarians respond again? Will they scoff at yet another one of these reports and ignore it? Or…is there some legitimacy to it?
We have about six weeks to find out.
Schlager heads to Forest (Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg)
Xaver Schlager is leaving RB Leipzig in favor of Nottingham Forest on a free transfer:
🚨💥 Xaver Schlager to Forest – DONE DEAL ✔️
Free transfer agreed. 28 y/o former RB Leipzig midfielder set to follow Oliver Glasner. Contract until 2028 + 1. #NFFC
Medical scheduled for this week, following @David_Ornstein @SkySportDE
At one point, Schlager was linked to Bayern Munich, but the Bavarians moved and now, so has Schlager.
Spain defender talks importance of clean sheet vs. France (Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano)
If there is one player in the World Cup who has elevated his stature tenfold, it is Spain center-back Pau Cubarsí, who has been excellent at center-back for the Spaniards. As you expect, Cubarsí is taking great pride in Spain’s defensive performance so far, especially against France:
Pau Cubarsí: “There was some talk about the defence and the goalkeeping on our side, but we have SHUT a lot of mouths. I think that one of the most important things in football now is to keep a clean sheet.”
Bayern will watch De Cat closely (Sport Bild’s Christian Falk)
Nathan De Cat inked a deal to play at Hoffenheim, but that does not mean Bayern Munich has lost interest in the young Belgian. In fact, this could actually help facilitate a move in the future:
Nathan De Cat is an interesting player. Bayern have watched him for months, but I always said there wouldn’t be any movement as the club is fully stocked with players in the Belgian’s position. This is why they now have the chance to see how the teenager will develop in the Bundesliga with Hoffenheim. One of the players who is considered a talent for the future, Tom Bischof, is from Hoffenheim.
FC Bayern had kept a watching brief on the footballer and were convinced they had to sign him. I’m absolutely sure that the 21-year-old will be a national player in Germany in the future. I’m sure there’s the same process going on at Bayern with De Cat. They know he has the skills they’re looking for, but at the moment, the midfield position is not a problem. So, it’s good they can keep an eye on the 17-year-old at Hoffenheim while he’s in the Bundesliga, instead of in the international market.
Bouaddi to City? (The Athletic’s David Ornstein)
Another one of the young stars of the World Cup has been Morocco midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi, who is garnering interest from Manchester City:
🚨 Man City pushing hard for Ayyoub Bouaddi from Lille. High among 18yo’s suitors (#PSG not in contention) & while others favour season on loan at #LOSC, #MCFC would integrate now. Price ~€100m + Morocco int’l expected to make decision soon @TheAthleticFC
Stiller’s exit clause not triggered (Bild’s Julian Agardi)
The date (July 15th) for another club to trigger Angelo Stiller’s exit clause has come and gone. As of now, it looks like the midfielder will stay at VfB Stuttgart:
Angelo #Stiller’s exit clause at #VfB Stuttgart expires tomorrow (July 15) and will not be triggered even during the winter break. It only comes into effect again in the summer of 2027. #Manchester United observed him during the past season, but no offer was ever on the table. @BILD
Stiller did not make the kind of impact for the German national team that many expected. Could that have hurt his profile? Maybe. Stiller also got off to a slow start last season for Die Schwaben, which could have also put some doubt in the minds of his potential suitors.
