Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles news and links …
Why Jordan Mailata is so excited for Eagles’ new-look coaching staff – NBCSP Jordan Mailata is going to miss Jeff Stoutland. There’s no way around it. Stout is the only offensive line coach Mailata has ever had, and next to Mailata himself, there’s no one more responsible for all of Mailata’s success than Stoutland. Even after having what Mailata called a “reconciliation dinner” with the Stout family a few weeks after Stout’s official departure,
he’s still going to miss him. But that doesn’t mean Mailata isn’t excited about the Eagles’ new-look offensive coaching staff. Because he is — very excited. And that starts with 34-year-old offensive coordinator Sean Mannion. “Sean is an evil genius. That is my first impression,” Mailata gushed. “He just knows ball. The guys knows ball. If I were to lock the three smartest people in the facility in one room, Sean would be there. And I think Sean would just be by himself. It would just be Sean. He’s a wizard. And, man, I’m super excited. As the year goes on, we get to display what is in that beautiful mind of his.” When asked about how Mannion’s genius shows itself, Mailata didn’t want to give away too many secrets. But he did say it’ll be very evident how different the offense will be in 2026 when we all get to see it in training camp.
Eagles lost a franchise legend. Their response? ‘S–t happened’ – NJ.com
“It’s one of those things where I’m at that point in my career, where this is the business,” Mailata said Tuesday. “We lost A.J. (Brown), lost Stout. This is how the business is. And I’ve got to find a way to find my feet again. I’ve got to find a way to lead this locker room again, regardless of whatever happens. “Those are the two things that I have to face now. S–t happened.” Mailata, a team captain, has spent this offseason thinking, “How do I get over this? How do I overcome this adversity?”
Jordan and Niki Mailata launch foundation to expand opportunities for teens – 6ABC
Eagles left tackle and Super Bowl champion Jordan Mailata and his wife, Niki, have launched a new family foundation aimed at helping middle and high school students pursue their ambitions. The couple said the mission is rooted in expanding access for young people who may not otherwise have it. “Our motto for the foundation is that talent is everywhere. Opportunity is not. So our hope is to help provide more opportunity,” Niki said. The Mailata Family Foundation will focus on students in grades 8 through 11, supporting a wide range of interests beyond athletics.
Eagles waive Brandon Hayes – BGN
The Philadelphia Eagles waived undrafted rookie wide receiver Brandon Hayes to make room on the roster for the Zion Wilson signing that was first reported on Thursday, according to an official team announcement.
Eagles Made Makai Lemon NFL Draft Decision to Survive A.J. Brown’s Inevitable Departure – SI
Brown’s ability to make competitive catches in coverage routinely helped Jalen Hurts and the offense. Pro Football Focus credited Brown with making 17 contested catches this past season, sixth-most in the league. However, Brown’s 47.2% contested catch percentage was a bit more middling, ranking 13th. Lemon has a career contested-catch rate of 57%, according to MB Fantasy Life. That tied for fourth-best among all receivers in the 2026 NFL Draft. Only Carnell Tate (69%), CJ Daniels (62%), and Denzel Boston (61%) were better.
Are Rams entering ‘dream team’ territory? – Turf Show Times
One historical parallel that can be drawn to this year’s Rams team is the 2011 “Dream Team” Philadelphia Eagles. Over the course of a single offseason, Philly attempted to load up for a Super Bowl run. Their additions hold many similarities to who recently joined LA.
Cowboys veteran finds new DC Christian Parker’s defense ‘annoying’ – Blogging The Boys
Dallas Cowboys All-Pro-wide receiver CeeDee Lamb may have just given Cowboys Nation their first real glimmer of hope the defense will be much improved under new defensive coordinator Christian Parker. This could be considered the ultimate praise for Dallas’ new DC Christian Parker. To “annoy” one of the league’s best WRs at this point in the offseason, with organized team activities (OTAs) just getting underway, is definitely a positive sign things are heading in the right direction.
How Commanders RT Josh Conerly Jr. set himself up to realize potential – Hogs Haven
Josh Conerly Jr.’s NFL draft profile listed him at 311 pounds. The Commanders had him at 315 shortly after selecting him at No. 29 overall in 2025, and the starting right tackle finished his rookie year at 318. That doesn’t seem like much of a shift, but the Oregon product wasn’t happy with the weight or his body composition at the time. He decided to do something about it, to be in the best shape possible heading into 2026. “I did cut a heavy amount at the end of last season, because I ended up at 318 or something,” Conerly said. “I was pretty fat. I cut down a lot of body fat and added some muscle.” His strategy was simple: “Eat a little cleaner. Eat a lot less.”
ESPN: The NY Giants could be primed for a worst-to-first jump – Big Blue View
Every year it seems as though a team makes the leap from the basement of their division to the penthouse. The New York Giants are a prime candidate to make the same leap from 2025 to 2026 as the New England Patriots and Chicago Bears did from 2024 to 2025 — at least according to ESPN’s Football Power Index. Of the eight teams to finish last in their respective division, ESPN gives the Giants the third-best odds to win their division in 2026.
The Buccaneers are right to play hardball with Baker Mayfield – SB Nation
It hasn’t reached the point of standoff yet, but it’s clear things are not going well between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Baker Mayfield in their contract negotiations. News emerged Friday that the sides were “not close” on an extension, and it came directly from Mayfield himself as he spoke to local media after practice.
