Men’s golf junior Jack Whaley finished in 14th place at the NCAA Championship.
Whaley was one of the top nine individuals from a non-advancing team after three rounds of play.
Sitting at 3-under entering the round, Whaley started the afternoon from the 10th tee. He made birdie on his second hole, but gave the stroke back on No. 12. Whaley answered on his fourth hole with another birdie, but carded a bogey on the next hole.
Looking for momentum, Whaley birdied holes 15 and 17 before making the turn to move to 5-under.
After six steady holes, Whaley moved to 6-under on the par-five sixth hole after a birdie, but gave it back on the seventh. Whaley closed out strong on the ninth hole with a birdie to move to 6-under, 282 for the tournament, tying for 14th place after finishing the round 3-under, 69.
Whaley carded rounds of 72, 68, 73 and 69 in his first NCAA appearance. His four-round score ties the fourth lowest for an FSU player at the NCAA Championship in program history alongside Jonas Blixt (2007) and Luke Clanton (2024).
Florida State women’s golf sophomore Sophia Fullbrook was named a Second Team All-American by the Women’s Golf Coaches Association:

She finished with an average of 71.16, tying for the eight-best average in program history. She finished the season ranked 18th by Scoreboard and is listed 44th in the World Golf Amateur Rankings.
Fullbrook finished the NCAA Championship in 20th place after finishing even par, 288.
Prior to the NCAA Championship, Fullbrook was named All-ACC and earned ACC co-Golfer of the Month for March.
Fullbrook was named to the Curtis Cup team for the R&A, which will take place June 12-14 at the Bel-Air Country Club.
Florida State head volleyball coach Lindsay Allman announced the addition of assistant coach Ángel Pérez on Tuesday:
Pérez has a distinguished background as he spent the last three seasons as the head coach of the Columbus Fury in the MLV. Pérez, a Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, native, had a great run as the leader of the Las Pinkin de Corozal in Puerto Rico’s Women’s Superior Volleyball League. Pérez led the team to championships in 2022 and 2023 and was named the league’s Manager of the Year in back-to-back seasons.
“It is a true privilege to join the staff of a program that seamlessly pairs elite athletic tradition with absolute academic excellence,” Pérez said. “This is a fantastic opportunity for me and my family, and we are all excited to establish ourselves down in Tallahassee. I am deeply thankful to Vice President and Director of Athletics Michael Alford and most of all to Head Coach Lindsay Allman for this incredible opportunity. From day one, my focus is to seamlessly support Coach Allman’s leadership and collaborate with the awesome and dedicated staff she has assembled here in Tallahassee. I am stepping into this gym humble, hungry, and entirely eager to grow and give our student athletes my absolute best.”
Pérez was one of the most decorated Puerto Rican volleyball players as he had professional stints in France, Germany, Austria, Italy, Romania and Slovenia. As a member of the Puerto Rican National Team, he helped them to a silver finish at the 2007 NORCECA Championship and a bronze finish at the 2010 Pan-American Cup. Perez served as the team captain from 2013-18.
Pérez played one season of college volleyball at BYU before returning to Puerto Rico to play at Polytechnic University from 2002-06.
“We are excited to welcome Angel to the program! He will fit in perfectly with the continuity we already have within our staff and bring a different lens coming from the professional level both as a player and a head coach. I am excited for him to bring his wealth of knowledge to the program, and I have no doubt he will make an impact quickly.” Head Coach Lindsay Allman said.
