The penultimate pick in the 2026 New England Patriots draft class will be headed to the wire.
The organization waived running back Jam Miller ahead of the NFL’s 53-man roster deadline on Sunday, according to a report from CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz.
Miller, 22, landed in Foxborough in the seventh round of the April’s draft at No. 245 overall. The 5-foot-10, 209-pound running back did so after appearing 50 games at Alabama and making 15 starts between his junior and senior seasons. He turned 349 carries
into 1,596 yards and 40 catches into 336 yards during his SEC tenure while totaling 15 touchdowns. And at the NFL Scouting Combine, the former Crimson Tide special-teamer clocked the 40-yard dash in 4.42 seconds.
In contention for the No. 3 spot on the depth chart behind the starting tandem of Rhamondre Stevenson and TreVeyon Henderson, Miller led the Patriots with 91 rushing yards in the preseason.
A long of 20 was among them before not taking the field for last week’s August finale against the Cleveland Browns.
The backfield has since gained Corey Kiner through a trade with the Arizona Cardinals. And on the eve of the cutdown deadline, vested veterans Hassan Haskins and JaMycal Hasty were informed of their release.
