The SEC is front and center today when it comes to ranked matchups, which one might expect since the league has nine of the top 2o including five of the top 10. The highlights:
No. 9 Vanderbilt @ No. 20
Texas (11am, ABC)
Arch Manning cleared concussion protocol and will start against the Commodores according to head coach Steve Sarkisian. The Texas defense looked awful in Starkville last weekend, and a repeat performance will likely get them beat. They are somehow favored in this one, albeit narrowly.
No. 5 Georgia @ Florida (2:30 p.m., ABC)
One would expect the heavily favored Dawgs to handle their business in what is typically the most compelling game of the week on Alabama’s traditional Halloween weekend sabbatical. Nothing is more dangerous than a team with nothing to lose, however, and that’s what they will be dealing with in WR coach Billy Gonzales’ first game as interim head coach. Can QB DJ Lagway muster up a career game to pull off the upset?
No. 18 Oklahoma @ No. 14 Tennessee (6:30 p.m., ABC)
This should be a classic battle of strength vs. strength when Tennessee’s offense is on the field against the Brent Venables led Sooners defense. Unfortunately it may be a test of who can screw up the least when the Sooners have the ball. Tennessee probably wins this one at home, but Alabama fans will be rooting hard for the Crimson and Cream.
