Ronny Mauricio put Syracuse on the board with a solo shot in the top of the fourth- one of two runs they would score that inning- and continued swinging a hot bat all evening, going yard once again in the fifth and then a third, final time in the eighth, driving in 5 runners in total. Ryan Clifford took a much more economical route in that regard, driving in 4 runners with one swing in the sixth, a grand slam for his third homer of the season. As the offense was doing

damage, Jonah Tong was quietly regaining form, throwing five-plus innings, allowing a run on four hits and two walks with nine strikeouts.

Zach Thornton was solid over six innings, but as soon as he left the game, the SeaWolves scored one more decisive run fueled by a Marco Vargas error. The Ponies had baserunners on all night but struggled to cash in, leaving 11 runners on and going 2-14 with men in scoring position.
