Former heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder will be back in action this weekend in a fight against Derek Chisora that promises to deliver on action. Wilder has been showcasing rather poor form as of late, but tells ESPN that he’s now in a much better place in his life in multiple respects and that he’s feeling very confident that he’s going to do the business against Chisora in London on Saturday.
“My [confidence] is through the roof at this moment in time. How I’ve been preparing and mentally and physically
having gotten over certain things in the past. I’ve truly healed,” Wilder told ESPN. “It’s important for me to go out and do what I need to do. It’s important because the heavyweight division needs me. I brought it back once before and I’ll bring it back again.”
While Wilder is looking for a career resurgence at this time, Chisora is looking to bow out of the sport on a grand high in front of his home fans in what will be his 50th and final fight. Because of this Wilder knows that Chisora is going to come to give it his all, and that’s exactly the type of energy he needs coming from his opponent so that he can be at his best.
Should Wilder falter here, it could well spell the end of his aspirations, and there’s no way Chisora wants to be put to bed in his final outing on home soil. So both will bring to bear whatever they have left in them, and that means a treat for fight fans. BLH will have full live coverage of the event tomorrow!
