The Cleveland Browns made a significant number of moves in free agency this offseason, and the team will certainly look much different going into 2026. As the NFL Draft nears, the roster is beginning to take shape—but which areas have the Browns actually improved so far?
Offensive Line
Although there were some departures on the offensive line, Cleveland added more depth and flexibility than it had on the roster last season. The additions of Zion Johnson at guard, Tytus Howard at tackle (in a trade
and extend), and Elgton Jenkins as a versatile lineman who can play multiple positions give the team multiple starting-caliber players who bring consistency to a group that has lacked that over the last few seasons.
Last year, Wyatt Teller, Ethan Pocic, Jack Conklin, and, to a lesser extent, Joel Bitonio struggled to meet the quality of the past resume. Overall, the changes in this group are a net positive.
Defensive Upgrades
The defense was in a much better position going into this offseason, so there were not as many areas that could use major improvement. Two players really stand out as major positives on the defensive side – linebacker Quincy Williams and defensive end A.J. Epenesa, replacing Devin Bush and Cameron Thomas. Williams is a productive off-ball linebacker who brings extensive experience at the position. Epenesa helps bring depth to an already talented defensive line. He was a low-cost addition with high upside and could really step up if called upon.
