Women’s Hockey (29-5)
The women’s hockey team is set to host Syracuse in the AHA semifinals tonight (6pm on Big Ten Plus) and tomorrow (3pm on Big Ten Plus). A third game will be played if necessary. Penn State is looking for its fourth straight sweep of the conference regular season and tournament titles. The Nittany Lions are still in position to earn a bye to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament.
Women’s Lacrosse (5-0)
The women’s lacrosse team boatraced Drexel 16-3 on Sunday to run their start to 5-0. Penn State led 12-0 at halftime
and held the Dragons to just 10 shots on goal in the game. Payton Wainman scored five goals, one of nine different goal scorers for the Nittany Lions.
Penn State will hit the road to take on Cornell tomorrow (3pm on ESPN+).
Men’s Volleyball (10-4)
Penn State swept Harvard with 3-0 and 3-1 wins last weekend. Owen Rose had 14 blocks in a 3-0 sweep in the first match, as the Nittany Lions held Harvard to -0.137 hitting percentage. Tristan Hassell (15 kills), Sean Harvey (12), and Jaidyn Bethel (10) all reached double figures in kills in the second match to lead Penn State to a 3-1 win.
Penn State will host Merrimack tonight (7pm on Big Ten Plus).
Softball (13-2)
The softball team had a wildly successful trip to Orlando last weekend, outscoring UCF, Notre Dame, Ohio, and Charleston Southern by a combined 53-11. Penn State is now 13-2 on the season, with both losses decided by just one run.
Allison Oneacre was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week for the second straight week for her outstanding performance in Florida. She had 13 RBIs in Penn State’s five games in Orlando and is hitting .419 for the season.
Penn State will play in the Tennessee Invitational this weekend, with games against NC Central (Friday at 12:30pm, Sunday at 10am), Tennessee (Friday at 5:30pm and Saturday at 3pm), and Appalachian State (Saturday at 12:30pm).
Men’s Lacrosse (2-2)
The men’s lacrosse team suffered a tough 12-11 loss to Navy on Saturday. Navy scored three goals in the final three minutes of regulation to sneak past Penn State at home. Kyle Lehman, Patrick Carragher, and Liam Matthews each scored two goals for the Nittany Lions. Both of the team’s losses have been by one goal.
Penn State hosts Yale tomorrow (1pm on Big Ten Plus).
Baseball (2-4)
Baseball lost two of three against Richmond over the weekend to fall to 2-4 on the season. Colin Fitzgerald, Dimond Loosli, and Michael Anderson combined to shut out the Spiders in the first game, allowing just seven hits and striking out 12 batters.
Penn State was shut out 3-0 in Game 2 to set up a rubber match in Game 3. The Nittany Lions stayed in it, but back-to-back home runs by Richmond’s Dylan Winebrenner and Khris Morris lifted the Spiders to a 4-3 win in the final game.
Penn State will take on Indiana State in the Bahamas for a three-game series (Friday at 6pm, Saturday at 3pm, Sunday at noon) before returning home for a pair of games against St. John’s (Tuesday at 5:30pm, Wednesday at 4pm).
Women’s Basketball (11-17)
The women’s basketball team extended its winning streak to three games with an 87-78 win over Rutgers and an 85-82 win over USC. Kiyomi McMiller scored 37 points against Rutgers, her fifth straight game with at least 30 points. The Nittany Lions shot 62% from the floor and 70% from three to take down the Scarlet Knights.
McMiller extended her 30-point streak to six games with a career-high 40 point effort against USC. The Lady Lions again shot 62% from the floor and outscored USC 46-36 in the second half to secure their third straight win.
Penn State will travel to Indiana for the regular season finale tomorrow (2pm on Big Ten Plus).
