Head coach Mike Norvell spoke ahead of FSU’s game vs. Miami this weekend, a game that he described as “a matchup we train and prepare for 365 days a year. This is a matchup that means a lot to our program, to our players, and to everyone who is part of this program.”
He also said that FSU has shown it’s “very capable to be able to deal with the adversity that comes with this game:”
Some game notes via FSU Sports Info:
- Florida State will face No. 3 Miami Saturday at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. The Seminoles are 21-19 all-time on the road against the Hurricanes.
- Quarterback Ashton Daniels ranks 3rd nationally with 10 rushing touchdowns. The 10 rushing scores are a single-season record for a Florida State quarterback and match the most for any Nole in the first six games of a season since 1995.
- Daniels set an FSU record with five rushing touchdowns against Virginia. The five rushing touchdowns also set a Doak Campbell Stadium record and match the most for any quarterback in ACC history. Daniels’ fourth touchdown went 81 yards, FSU’s longest play of the season and the 2nd-longest rush by a QB in school history.
- Daniels ranks 1st in the ACC and 12th nationally with 14.51 yards per completion. He had 183 passing yards, a career-high 136 rushing yards and five touchdowns against Virginia, the only FBS player since at least 1995 to reach those marks in a game.
- Daniels rushed for two touchdowns, threw two touchdowns and ran for a two-point conversion at No. 10 Alabama, one of two players in FBS in 2026 with multiple rushing and passing touchdowns and a two-point conversion. He is one of just three players since 1995 to have those numbers in a road game against a Power 4 opponent.
- Daniels needed just 17 completions to rack up 377 yards. His 22.2 yards per completion are the most Alabama has allowed to a player with at least seven completions since at least 1995. The Seminoles scored 36 points at Alabama, the most the Crimson Tide have allowed in a non-conference game in Tuscaloosa since 2000.
- Running back Ousmane Kromah is one of just three players to rush for at least 80 yards in every team game in 2026. His six-game streak with 80+ rushing yards to begin the season matches the Florida State record set by Warrick Dunn in 1995.
- Florida State has had a player score multiple touchdowns in five of six games this year: Kromah vs. Central Arkansas (2 rushing), Daniels vs. Virginia (5 rushing) and at Alabama (2 rushing), Samuel Singleton Jr. vs. New Mexico State (1 rushing, 1 receiving) and Micahi Danzy at Louisville (2 receiving).
- FSU’s defense allowed just 2.85 yards per play against Virginia, including 0.9 yards per rush. The Cavaliers had 205 yards on 72 plays, with 37 rushing yards on 40 carries. FSU’s defense had 10 sacks in the game, one shy of the school record and the most in a game since 1997. The 10 sacks match the most in an ACC game since 2005.
- The 37 rushing yards were FSU’s fewest allowed in an ACC game since 2016, when Syracuse also had 37 rushing yards.
- The Seminoles rank 4th in the ACC and 14th in the country with an average of 3.0 sacks per game. Their average of 6.7 tackles for loss per game is 5th in the conference and 26th nationally. Defensive lineman Rylan Kennedy leads FSU with 7.5 tackles for loss and 5.0 sacks.
- Kicker Gabe Panikowski is 21-for-21 on field goal attempts in his NCAA career, including 6-for-6 this season. He is the only active qualified kicker (min. 15 attempts) in any NCAA division that is perfect in his career.
ESPN ranked the best receivers of the last 50 years, placing Peter Warrick at No. 13:
Years: 1995-99
Career stats: 207 catches, 3,517 yards, 32 TDs (also: 188 rushing yards, 4 rushing TDs, 2 punt return TDs)Virginia Tech quarterback Michael Vick made a lasting impression in 1999’s BCS Championship Game, almost single-handedly keeping his Hokies in the game with his arm, legs and incredible athleticism. Unfortunately for Tech, he was only the game’s second-best player.
Warrick caught a 64-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter, took a punt 59 yards for a score in the second, then iced the national title with a 43-yard catch with 7:42 left. It was the perfect ending for an unbelievable career.

No. 24 FSU soccer returns to play tonight, taking on the No. 4 Wake Forest Demon Deacons:
Unbeaten in their last five games, the Seminoles are 5-1-3 on the season, 1-0-2 at home and 4-1-1 on the road. FSU is 1-0-2 in ACC play after a 2-1 win at No. 23 Clemson on October 4. The team is 2-0-0 against top-25 teams, both on the road. Florida State has had the last 10 days off, its third break of at least 10 days this season, after the October 9 matchup vs. North Carolina was postponed due to Hurricane Isaias’ projected impact on the area.
Florida State has scored 17 goals on 14 assists with 102 shots, 55 on frame, and has allowed eight goals on 91 shots for a 0.89 goals-against average and a .778 save percentage. FSU’s goals have come from eight different players, five of them newcomers, and nine players have at least one assist, seven of them first-year Seminoles. Five players, four in their first year in the Garnet and Gold, have at least one goal and one assist.
Individually, junior midfielder Sam Erbach and junior forward Wrianna Hudson each have four goals, as Erbach also leads the team with four assists and four points and Hudson paces the team with 22 shots and 14 shots on goal. Sophomore goalkeeper Kate Ockene has three shutouts with 24 saves and a 4-1-3 record. She has earned one ACC Goalkeeper of the Week honor this year.
Wake Forest is 10-1-1 on the season, 7-0-0 at home and 3-1-1 on the road. Wake is 3-1-1 in the ACC after a goalless draw at Miami on October 10. Against top-25 opponents, the Demon Deacons are 3-1-0, with a 2-0 loss at No. 6 Stanford coming two games after a 1-0 home triumph over No. 10 Virginia.
Wake is ranked No. 4 in this week’s Coaches Poll and No. 8 in the Top Drawer Soccer rankings.
FSU is 15-13-6 all-time against Wake Forest, including 12-11-3 in ACC contests. The Seminoles are 9-3-0 at home, 3-9-2 in Winston-Salem and 3-1-4 at a neutral site. Florida State has won six of the last seven and is unbeaten in 10 of the last 12 contests since the 2011 postseason following a 4-1 home win a year ago.
In the 2025 regular-season finale, Florida State defeated Wake Forest 4-1 as Jordynn Dudley netted her second brace in as many games. A free kick in the 10th minute opened the scoring, and Dudley then scored a penalty kick in the 21st minute to make it 2-0, and she secured her second goal of the night in the 54th minute to extend the lead to 3-0. After Wake Forest got a goal back in the 56th minute, FSU answered six minutes later. Florida State out-shot Wake Forest 19-7, with 16 shots on goal to WF’s three. The Seminoles took six corner kicks to the Demon Deacons’ two. Ockene made a then-career-high-tying two saves for a second consecutive game and her Wake counterpart stopped 12 shots.
