The Huskers have fallen into another Minnesota mudfight, and while they only trail by one, many Husker fans who spoke of Nebraska being “clearly the more talented team” and winning this one by 17, and then
having a chance to run the table (go ahead and look at those remaining games again), have clearly ignored history as well as several recent Gopher games where the Huskers were favored, this should be easy, etc., and came out on the wrong end.
This is not a new phenomenon for this series.
The yardage is close and it is two things currently keeping the Huskers from a halftime lead – 1) The offensive line, who I praised after the last game, has already allowed 5 sacks with it feeling like someone is coming through untouched on every pass play; and 2) giving up an 81-yard run to Darius Taylor who prior to tonight was averaging 3.7 YPC with a long run of 18 yards.
So now, we find out. Can this new fight-back Husker squad overcome and fix the above crucial errors, fight through the Gophers once again turning the game into an exercise in crawling through vines and gut out another win in enemy territory which is very loud despite many empty seats and seats with Huskers in them?
Let’s find out, shall we?
