No. 1 Indiana football quarterback Fernando Mendoza was named a finalist for the 2025 Heisman Trophy on Monday night via ESPN.
He’ll be making the trip to New York for the trophy ceremony where he’ll be joined by fellow finalists in Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia, Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love and Ohio State quarterback Julian Sayin.
As of Monday night’s announcement of the four finalists, Mendoza remains the clear favorite, per FanDuel Sportsbook. He sits at -2500 to win the award and
is trailed by Pavia at +1200, Love at +40000 and Sayin at +50000.
Mendoza cemented his status as the frontrunner to win the award after besting Ohio State in the Big Ten Football Championship game on Saturday in Indianapolis, completing 15 of his 23 attempts through the air for 222 yards and a touchdown. He completed a pair of deep shots to Charlie Becker to get Indiana into scoring position and flip the field late while draining the clock to keep Sayin’s Buckeyes from getting a reasonable shot to win the game on offense.
