The Portland Trail Blazers have announced wing Matisse Thybulle will miss Wednesday night’s preseason opener against the Golden State Warriors due to right knee soreness.
Thybulle also didn’t play in the
Blazers annual Fan Fest scrimmage on Saturday at the Moda Center, though the team didn’t provide a reason for why he stayed on the bench.
In mid-October of last year, Thybulle underwent a procedure to clean up inflammation in his right knee that caused him to miss the start of the 2024-25 NBA season. The procedure was expected to keep him out 3-4 weeks. However, when he was nearing his return, Thybulle suffered a grade 2 right ankle sprain in late November. Combined, the two injuries forced the defensive specialist to miss the first 66 games of last season.
Thybulle, 28, appeared in Portland’s final 15 games. He averaged 7.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.2 steals, 1.9 assists and 20.8 minutes per outing while shooting 43.8% on 3s.
Outside of Thybulle, the other names on Portland’s injury report for the preseason opener were expected: Robert Williams III, Scoot Henderson and Robert Williams III.
The Blazers will tip off against the Warriors on the road at 7 p.m. PDT.
