Sammy Guevara’s back-to-back-to-back reign with the ROH World Tag Team Championship is over. Sammy and Beast Mortos lost the titles to Mistico and Mascara Dorada in CMLL.
The LFI duo traveled to Arena Mexico on Friday night (June 26, 2026) to defend the gold against the Sky Team. New champions emerged when the dust cleared. Mistico submit Mortos on La Mistica armbar.
LFI’s title run ends at 203 days. Sammy’s run with those titles lasted 670 days. He first won the tag belts with Dustin Rhodes on AEW Collision airing August 17, 2024. Unfortunately, Rhodes suffered an injury. The championship was vacated, but Sammy won it right back when turning heel with Rush as his partner and joining LFI. That match took place at ROH Death Before Dishonor on August 29, 2025. Rush suffered the same fate as Rhodes, and the gold was vacated again due to injury. Sammy would not be denied. He teamed with Mortos to become a three-time tag champ at ROH Final Battle on December 5, 2025.
It sounds like Sammy has bigger goals on the horizon.
Mistico & Masacara Dorada move on to face the Young Bucks and Shingo Takagi & Titan of Unbound Co. in a three-way tag team bout at AEW Forbidden Door on Sunday. As of now, the ROH tag titles will not be defended in that match.
