Real Madrid were back at Valdebebas on Friday with their full focus now set on Sunday’s highly anticipated El Clásico against Barcelona — the first of the season and one of the biggest tests yet for Xabi
Alonso’s side.
The session brought encouraging news for Madrid supporters, as Dani Ceballos and Dean Huijsen both trained with the group. The young Dutch defender has been gradually reintegrating after his recent injury, while Ceballos — who had been managing discomfort in his soleus — took part wearing a light bandage as a precaution. Both are being carefully monitored but are expected to be available for selection this weekend.
They join Dani Carvajal and Trent Alexander-Arnold, who also participated fully in Friday’s session. The two full-backs were rested for the Juventus match but are now back in contention for Sunday’s squad list. Their return adds vital depth and balance to Alonso’s defensive options ahead of a demanding fixture list.
Another boost for Los Blancos came in the form of Raul Asensio, who completed the session without issues after recovering from the hamstring problem that forced him off in the last match. The defender appeared sharp and confident during training drills, suggesting he will be fit for the squad against Barcelona.
On the other hand, David Alaba and Antonio Rüdiger continued working individually as they recover from their respective injuries. The Austrian’s participation in El Clásico is virtually ruled out, while Rüdiger is expected to remain sidelined for another few weeks.
