Wojciech Szczęsny has admitted he’s happy and sad to be back in the Barcelona first team after returning to the side following an injury to Joan Garcia.
Barcelona’s No. 1 has undergone knee surgery and will miss the next 4-6 weeks, meaning Szczesny is back between the sticks for Hansi Flick’s side.
The veteran made his first appearance of the season in Sunday’s win over Real Sociedad and spoke about how he was feeling after the match.
“Don’t tell me I’m happy today because I’m sad for Joan García and
what happened to him. Happy wasn’t the right word…! I’m back playing for Barça and I could be happy, yes, but I’m not because Joan García is injured,” he said via Mundo Deportivo.
“I hope he returns to the goal soon, where he belongs for a long time, defending our colors.”
Szczesny will continue in the Barcelona goal for the next few weeks and will make his first Champions League appearance of the new campaign on Wednesday against Paris Saint-Germain.
