When Harry Kane was at Tottenham Hotpsur, no one really understood how good he was. He needed that move to Bayern Munich to raise his profile, to be counted alongside the likes of Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappé as one of the best in the world. Or at least that’s what Bruno Fernandes thinks.
Speaking to the Sunday Times, the Manchester United captain said that moving to Germany gave Kane the chance to win a Ballon d’Or.
“If he had stayed [at Tottenham] another one or two seasons,” said Fernandes,
“he’d have been the best goalscorer ever in the Premier League. So, would he have been a legend or not? He would.”
“He decided to go to Bayern and the decision is good because he knows he has a big chance of winning trophies,” he said. “And now we’re talking about Harry Kane that is scoring the same amount of goals he was scoring at Tottenham, but he might win a Ballon d’Or now because he’s going to win trophies.”
Of course, Harry Kane still has yet to win the biggest trophies that will stake a claim on the Ballon d’Or for good. But he’s at the right club if he wants it to happen. Bayern Munich under Vincent Kompany are humming like a finely tuned machine, and big things could happen this season.
