CJ Baxter came into the season as the lead back for Will Stein and the Kentucky Wildcats. A former blue-chip recruit, Baxter was rolling in week one against Youngstown State, getting the fanbase fired up.
Then he sustained a finger injury that kept him coming on and off the field against Alabama this weekend. It sounds like he will be ready to roll this weekend, though.
According to Will Stein, Baxter practiced every rep today and has it taped to get prepared for the date with the Aggies.
The Cats’ running game really struggled against the Tide, averaging around two yards per carry. That led to the passing game being the only tool relied on in the offense, which helped lead to the blowout loss for the Cats.
A healthy Baxter should definitely help that this weekend in College Station. It will take a lot to pick up the win, but the more times we can get him the ball, the better chance the Cats stand of pulling off the upset.
