First Chuck: 5:20 PM (new anthem each week!)
The Tube: NBC/Peacock
The Dial: Treasure Island Baseball Network
Spies ‘R Us: South Side Sox
A few weeks ago, this contest was flexed into NBC’s Sunday Night Baseball—something that doesn’t often happen with matchups that aren’t LA/SF, BOS/NYY, or CHI/STL. Hey, at least someone somewhere said “we want to see the Twins in primetime” as late as the month of September—perhaps a win in and of itself!
This got me thinking about MN performance under the fluorescents versus in the glory of the planet Sol. A few stats on the subject (2010+ because in the Metrodome it was of course all Teflon all the time)…
Night Games
- 41-44 this season
- Best: 66-37 (.641) in 2019
- Worst: 36-62 (.367) in 2013
- Since 2010: 779-836 (.482)
Day Games
- 27-30 this season
- Best: 35-24 (.593) in 2019
- Worst: 19-37 (.339) in 2012
- Since 2010: 480-537 (.472)
Though nowhere near statistically significant, the Twins have fared slightly better under artificial lighting than the real deal. Hopefully that bodes well for the visitors this holiday weekend night (kinda—what a weird 5:20 PM start) within the AL Central as they try to take the series from the Sox.
