The Tennessee Titans have a winnable game versus the New York Giants in Week 3. The Titans played a competitive game against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 2. Meanwhile the Giants lost several starters to injury, including quarterback Jaxson Dart.
We’ve identified three Titans who could lead Tennessee to victory in Week 3.
WR Carnell Tate
Rookie wide receiver Carnell Tate has produced just seven receptions for 65 yards through two games. The fourth overall pick has started slower than anyone anticipated. Both Cam
Ward and Tate have been responsible for missed opportunities.
The Giants’ secondary was torched by Davante Adams on MNF. Tate and the Titans’ passing attack should have opportunities to generate explosive plays on Sunday. It’s time for the rookie wideout to have his breakout game.
RB Tony Pollard
Tony Pollard ran the football rather effectively versus the Eagles in Week 2. He rushed for 64 yards via 14 carries, averaging 4.6 yards per attempt. He could have scored a touchdown if Ward didn’t scramble for two scores. Pollard is averaging 4.7 yards per carry.
The Titans’ offensive line has been better than expected or advertised. With Jaxson Dart missing Week 3, hopefully the Titans will control the football for longer as they currently rank 32nd in time of possession. Pollard could have a big day.
DT Jeffery Simmons
Superstar defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons was dominant versus the Eagles in Week 2. He currently leads the NFL in pressures. He’s playing like the Pro Bowl-caliber player he is in Robert Saleh’s new system.
The Giants have a rookie guard in Francis Mauigoa and a struggling center in John-Michael Schmitz. With Jameis Winston at quarterback, Simmons is definitely capable of forcing him into a mistake or two. He should be his usual reliable self.
